Demand for the use of audio in
video surveillance systems is increasing as it can enhance a system’s ability to detect and interpret events and emergency situations. Audio can cover a 360° area enabling a video surveillance system to extend its coverage beyond a camera’s field of view.
The
Symmetry Security Management System now provides audio recording as standard with the Symmetry Range of
network cameras and Axis H.264 cameras with built-in microphones that allow operators to listen in on areas under surveillance either as live or recorded video. Audio is transmitted across the network in the same way as video footage, the camera captures the audio, integrates it into the video stream, and streams it over the network for monitoring and recording.
As with network video, Symmetry and Axis audio footage can be accessed from remote locations. Users can monitor and listen in on areas within range of the cameras. Incorporating the Symmetry or Axis cameras into an audiovisual surveillance system such as the
Symmetry Video Surveillance System increases security effectiveness by enhancing a remote user’s ability to receive and interpret information, trigger alarms and send alerts.
